Please remember that you may not use forum posts to promote your own business, with the exception of shows/events and livery spaces.

Note the forum guidelines -

Do not use the forum as a marketing tool for yourself, your business, or anyone else’s business.

There are a number of reasons why aim to keep the forum as non-commercial as possible but the key ones are -

a) Allowing businesses to advertise for free in forum posts would mean that the the whole forum would be overrun with commercial messages. The forum would be cluttered, not user-friendly and members would feel manipulated, deserting us rapidly.

b) This website is owned and managed by Horse Network Limited, a company with income reliant on revenue from online advertising. Allowing all businesses and individuals to advertise their products and services for free would seriously damage that revenue stream, resulting in the closure of the forum.

The Horse Network Forum is visited by a regular audience of more than 7,000 people every month from local equestrian communities in the North West and North Wales, so I understand that it is very tempting for equine businesses to attempt to promote themselves to their potential customers for free in this way. Some businesses think they are being very clever by getting a friend to post a 'review' or by registering different usernames to post positive comments about their business, but it amounts to exactly the same thing.

Even if your business is being discussed by other users, you do not have a 'right to reply' and you may not join the discussion.

As moderators, we will err on the side of caution in this matter. If we suspect that any business or individual (with the exception of shows/events and livery) is attempting to use the forum as a marketing tool to promote themselves, we will not only delete the offending posts, but we will probably also delete any genuine posts (past, current and future) relating to that business.

Every forum member agreed to follow the forum guidelines when they registered on this site. Anyone ignoring these guidelines will find that their posts are removed and their forum accounts (and the accounts of those posting on their behalf) are closed.

If you do want to advertise to forum members you can do so by taking a display banner space, linked to your website, that appears on every page of the site.

You can also take display banner spaces (or local directory listings, if relevant) on any of the individual Horse Network sites, eg. Cheshire Horse, North Wales Horse, Wirral Horse. Please contact me - for details.
